Friends Archives

Within the ranks of the Friends, we have some pretty amazing archives. Membership allows you to ask the collective 'mind hive' for answers to all those regimental questions that you have been longing to know the answers of. Please take a look at the drop down  menu above for our online archives and what our members have achived since we were formed back in 2008. You wil also find information on all our past battlefield tours as well.

Below are some of the benefits of being a Friends member:

The Suffolk Regimental Gazette

At Friends HQ, we have an almost complete run of the 'Suffolk Regimental Gazette' from February 1890 to Summer 1959. Coupled with the 'Britannia & Castle' that followed it, and our own publications, our membership have access to 135 years of regimental news, personalitites and accounts to trawl through.
Unpublished Archives and Accounts

Within the Friends, are many authors and historians who have over the years amassed a great wealth of material that is not stored in the public domain. Members often get to read unpublished material first in our magazines and we all try to help one another out when someone is looking for that elusive piece of their research jigsaw.
Private Photographic and Image Archives

Many Friends members are long established postcard collectors and have pretty remarkable collections of Suffolk-related cards. From all periods and from all stations of service, many of them have never been seen before. Often these Friends help us with images of certain periods and campaigns and they could help you too!
A Network of Like-Minded People
Picture
Just as the Friends are passionate about all things Suffolk Regiment related, so are others who have links to their own 'pet' regiments. We work with like-minded people to explore all avenues of reseach for our members and like the Old Comrades Association that came before us, the Friends are all about friendship.
In addition to the above, we can probably steer you in the right direction if you are looking for something in the Regimental Archives. Whilst the great majority of the Regiment's written and photographic archives have now been digitalised by the Army Museum's Ogilby Trust (AMOT), they can be something of a minefield to search through. Although these are currently in the process of being transfered to the Suffolk Regiment Museum, the hope is that one day they will be available to search through online via the Museum's website.
